Recap: Chicken Road 2.0 and its change in RTP

Chicken Road 2, also written Chicken Road 2.0, was released by InOut Games on 15 April 2025, a little over a year after the original. It is presented on the provider's website as a flagship title. This recap covers what carried over from the first game and the main figure that changed.

What stayed the same

The format is unchanged. It is a single-player crash-style game: pick a difficulty level, set a stake, move the chicken one step at a time while the multiplier rises, and collect before a hazard ends the round. At any point the decision is between taking the current multiplier and risking it for a higher one. There is no interaction with other players, and each round is independent of the previous one.

What changed

The most visible number is the RTP. The original game is listed at 98%, while Chicken Road 2 is listed at 95.5%. A difference of 2.5 percentage points means the expected house edge rises from 2% to 4.5%, more than doubling. Over a long run of rounds that is a meaningful difference, even though a single session may not show it. The sequel's trade-offs are also reflected in reported details such as different numbers of lanes per difficulty level and a cap on the payout of a single round that varies with the currency. Those details come from secondary reports and are preliminary, so they are not treated as confirmed here.

  • Release date: 15 April 2025 (per the provider's game page)
  • Published RTP: 95.5%
  • Original for comparison: 98%

Why it matters

The sequel set the pattern for later releases. Chicken Road Gold, Vegas, Race and Ice all list 95.5% as well, while the two Bonus versions return to higher figures of 97% and 96.5%. Anyone comparing versions should look at the RTP before the theme. The Chicken Road 2 page has the specification, and the family comparison lists every version. As always, the operator's in-game information screen shows the value actually in use.
